GUWAHATI: Baghbor MLA and suspended Congress leader Sherman Ali Ahmed was spotted in the premises of the ITA Machkhowa auditorium where the ruling BJP party was having a party meeting discussion.
The BJP meeting on Saturday was going on in the presence of state chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
On being questioned by the media, the MLA stated that he had entered the venue just to use the toilet there and had no idea about the ongoing BJP party meet inside the venue.
Meanwhile, in a recent function attended by Sherman, he was heard saying the popular dialogue 'Main Jhukega nahi' from the blockbuster film 'Pushpa: The Rise' starring Allu Arjun.
Sherman is famous among the people for making various controversial statements as a result of which he was suspended from the Congress party.
The leader uttering the dialogue said that he will not bow down to injustice even if his head is chopped by enemies as he says 'Ho sakta hain mera sar kaat jaye, par mein jhukega nahi.'
The sources from the Congress party informed that the party was all set to expel the MLA who was detained by police in 2021 for allegedly terming the martyrs of the Assam agitation (Anti-foreigners' movement) as assassins.
This came following the eviction drive in Dholpur of Assam's Darrang district where several Muslim people were evicted as per the project to free the government land area.
The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) has earlier broken all the committees of the party in Bhagbar headed by Sherman Ali in Barpeta district of Assam which is inhabited by the minority community.
